Winter Wonderland: 7 Days in Switzerland

Lately, I have been dreaming of new destinations and awesome trips that I want to take. One dream trip that I am dying to take is a luxurious winter ski-cation to Switzerland. So, I decided that I would plan out my dream trip and create the greatest itinerary. Annnnnddddd, drum roll please, here it is!

Day 1: Zurich

  • Fly into Zurich  ​
  • Recommended hotel, Hotel Storchen. ​
  • Take a guided tour around the city, and spend time exploring the old city and look at the icon colourful buildings. ​
  • Go ice skating on one of  largest open-air ice-skating rinks in Europe. ​ 

Day 2, 3 and 4: Zermatt and Matterhorn

  • Head to  Zermatt.  Here you can experience one of the world’s greatest ski resorts.  The Zermatt skiing area is Europe’s highest skiing region, with more than 360 kilometres of stunning runs in both Switzerland and Italy.  Matterhorn is the jewel of the Swiss Alps. At 4,478 meters, the majestic Matterhorn – certainly the most famous mountain in Europe – looms over the breathtaking Alpine panorama.
  • You can get an international ski pass and be able to ski on both the Swiss and Italian side.
  • There is so much to do here. You can spend these days skiing, enjoying the spa, taking a train ride in the mountains, shopping, exploring the mountains, enjoying the night life, listening to live music, participating in other winter games, ex. curling and of course eating delicious food. 
  • Recommended hotel, the stunning 5 star hotel the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof.   

Day 5: Geneva

  • Head to Geneva​
  • You can take a break from skiing, and explore the beautiful city of Geneva. ​
  • Activities here include, taking a watch tour, 4 world renown museums, shopping, snow shoeing outing, see Geneva’s flower clock, visit the European headquarters of the United Nations, and of course more food.
  • Recommended hotel, Hotel Metrople Geneve. ​

Day 6: Bern

  • On the way to Bern make a stop at Chateau de Chillon
  • Chateau de Chillon is a romantic castle in Lake Geneva near Montreux. Chillon Castle is the most-visited historic monument in Switzerland.  ​
  • Once in Bern the head to The Bumbach Ski area and enjoy another day on the slopes. ​
  • Recommended hotel,  BELLEVUE PALACE. Be wild, and order a bottle of champagne up to your room. 😉 

Day 7: Back to Zurich

  • Before leaving Bern have a delicious brunch at Rosengarten. The Rosengarten restaurant is centrally located in a beautiful park, with the most beautiful view of the old town of Bern. ​
  • Enjoy the beautiful trip back to Zurich where you can explore a little more and catch your flight back to home.
